15 March 1955 - in Ronaldo Lupo production 'Trabalhou bem... Genival!' Zé Trindade still plays a supporting role...

21st March 1956 - Still trying to cash in on 'O cangaceiro's box-office success, Mario Brasini's 'O primo do cangaceiro' sends it up in a most hilarious way. This is actually São Paulo release-date for it was premiere in Rio de Janeiro on 28 August 1955

19 April 1956 - Zé Trindade kept on working as a supporting act for actor-producer Ronaldo Lupo. Zé would shoot to the top in early 1958...
3rd March 1957 - Carlos Manga's 'Garotas e samba' features Renata Fronzi and Zé Trindade that would be together again in 1960's 'Marido de mulher boa'.
18 August 1957 - Francisco Eichorn's 'Treze cadeiras' (13 chairs) stars Oscarito but Zé Trindade and Renata Fronzi have good parts in it.
21st August 1957 - Even though 'Tem boi na linha' (There's a cow on the line) was a Ronaldo Lupo's movie Zé Trindade is actually the 'main event'.

16 January 1958 - Aloisio T. de Carvalho's 'O batedor de carteiras' (The pickpocket).
13 October 1958 - Maria Vidal gets top billing but  'O camelô da Rua Larga' is surely a Zé Trindade movie... Nancy Wanderley is always a highlight and Zezé Macedo is indispensable as a prim-and-proper old lady... Maysa sings 'Ouça' (Listen), her greatest hit ever; Nelson Gonçalves sings 'Escultura' (Sculpture), one of his most impressive hits: show-girl Eloina and breathtaking Julie Joy complete the female entertainers.
23rd November 1958 - Eurides Ramos' 'Na corda bamba' joins a circus clown, Arrelia and a urban comedian Zé Trindade; comedian Ema D'Avila add a few gags; her brother comedian Walter D'Avila does a musical number; Elizeth Cardoso & Monsueto Menezes do one of the most elaborate musical numbers ever shot by Brazilians.
23rd November 1958 - Watson Macedo's 'Aguenta o rojão' is Zé Trindade's 4th movie for 1958. That proves he was the most popular Brazilian comedian for the year.
4 February 1959 - The years starts all fine with Zé Trindade in J.B.Tanko's 'Mulheres à vista', a box-office phenomenon in Rio.
21st April 1959 - Zé Trindade is paired with Renata Fronzi for the 1st time in 'O espirito de porco'.
13 September 1959 - Watson Macedo's 'Aguenta o rojão' with Annabella, Reginaldo Farias, Aracy Rosas, Aurelio Teixeira, Zilka Salaberry and Zé Bacurah.
12 November 1959 - Fouth Zé Trindade movie for 1959: Victor Lima's 'Massagista de madame' with Renata Fronzi, Nancy Wanderley, Costinha, Aida Campos, Iris Bruzzi,

7 February 1960 - J.B.Tanko's 'Entrei de gaiato' premieres in Rio de Janeiro to be released in Sao Paulo 2 weeks later.
21 February 1960 - 'Entrei de gaiato' paired two of the most popular comedians in the country: Zé Trindade who receives top-billing and Dercy Gonçalves who could draw big crowds to the movies and to the theatres where she kept a string of popular plays going on through the years.

This is the movie in which Moacyr Franco sings 'Me dá um dinheiro aí' that turned out to be the last Carnaval hit ever. Up until 1960, major recording acts recorded especially for the Carnaval period. Some of those recordings would eventually hit Number One in the charts... but gradually through the 1950s these hits were becoming fewer & fewer until 'Me dá um dinheiro aí' went to the top of the pops in early 1960. That was the last Carnaval hit to get to that position.
29 February 1960 - J.B. Tanko's 'Entrei de gaiato' is Zé Trindade at his peak... Trindade's name comes on top of that of Dercy Gonçalves and that means something.
5 February 1961 -  it is weird to think 'O viúvo alegre' would turn out to be Zé Trindade's last featured film. Actually, 1961 was arguably Brazilian musical-comedy's last year of production. The reasons for its sudden demise are many, like the rising popularity of television among the population... but I would bet on the political scene which was not conducive to anything good. President Janio Quadros renounces his mandate after 8 months in office in August 1961. The military reactionary try to stop Vice-President João Goulart to become the lawful President of the Nation. Then, out of the blue, Brazil becomes a Parliamentary nation... Not even a musical-comedy could tell Brazil's real history... tragi-comedy doesn't come close.
8 December 1961 - Zé Trindade's (probably) last flick: 'Mulheres, cheguei!'

'O Cruzeiro' article: 'Humorismo de radio' 1st September 1956.

Zé Trindade's real name was Milton da Silva Bittencourt. He borrowed his alias from a character  - actually a colonel - in a poem written by Olegário Mariano called 'Quermesse'.

Ankito, Catalano, Francisco Dantas, Wilson Grey, Erik (make-up man) & Alencaster Guimarães.
Heloisa Helena listens to Catalano in 1957's 'O boca de ouro' - a typical Brazilian high-society milieu.
10 February 1958 - 'É de chuá' is one of my favourite musical comedies... a this point great actress-comedienne Renata Fronzi was almost always included in Ankito & Grande Otelo's flicks.
7 July 1958 - Victor Lima's 'De pernas p'ro ar' was another box-office winner with Ankito, Grande Otelo, Renata Fronzi, Renato Restier & the usual gang.

21 February 1960 - Ankito's 14th movie as a top-billing star. Victor Lima's 'Pé na tabua' with Grande Otelo and Renata Fronzi plus Nely Martins, bad-man Carlos Tovar, Radio Nacional crooner Bill Farr, rock'n'roller Carlos Imperial and the King of Rumba Ruy Rey.
15 May 1960 - less than 3 months after 'Pé na tabua' a new Ankito & Grande Otelo flick 'Pistoleiro bossa nova' to cash on in the wave created over the so-called Bossa Nova, the new Brazilian rhythm that would conquer the world in a couple of years. The supporting cast is almost the same of the previous movie: Renata Fronzi, Carlos Tovar... with the inclusion of bad-man Renato Restier, mouse-faced Wilson Grey and the baddest men of all Aurelio Teixeira.

21st July 1960 - 3rd flick in a row with the trio Ankito, Grande Otelo & Renata Fronzi: 'Vai que é mole!'...
8 December 1960 - Time was fast running out for the Brazilian musical-comedy... 'Sai dessa recruta!' is only more of the same...
15 April 1961 -

24 December 1961 -
